A physical division in the bed?

I get that they got into a rut, and maybe she found him boring now, years into the marriage. They are no longer intimate but why have an actual barrier in the bed?
Kinda unsubtle of her to say "don't touch me" in that way. It didn't seem like he was forceful towards her at all.

Does anyone really do that?

my ex girlfriend and I used to have the barrier. She snored so loud and would sometimes swing her arms while she was dreaming... 😂
