Max's Cancer

Having had the same type of throat cancer at Stage 4 and now cancer free for 3 years it is treatable. I also lost a friend that didn't treat the same cancer and succumbed after about 4 years.

Having gone through chemo and radiation, I will never be able to grow hair on my neck again nor along my jawline up to about my ear. It doesn't take a lot of research to find that out, but in their infinite wisdom they've decided Max should have a full, thick beard... That's not how it works... And the levels of Cisplatin (chemo used for throat cancer) wouldn't make his hair fall out in clumps, especially while leaving such a nice beard.

After about 3 weeks of treatment Max wouldn't still be working; his body would be beaten up from the poison (chemo) and he'd be exhausted from the radiation; he'd spend more time resting than just about anything else. By the fourth week he'd barely be able to talk if at all, and for short times only. He would be more exhausted than the week before and would have lost significant weight, even if he was on a feeding tube.

By the fifth week if he wasn't already on a feeding tube he would be by now because his throat would be so burned inside that he wouldn't be able to swallow much more than small sips of water to try to cool his burning throat and to help keep it moist. By the sixth and final week he'd be so weak that it would take everything he has to make it to his last few radiation sessions.

I don't understand why, with all of the information readily available, and with millions of people having or having had this type of cancer they can't portray it a little more accurately; it kind of spoils the show for those of us that have been there...
