Why is it so hard to make characters act smart?

I don't think it should be that hard to make characters act smart in horror movies, sci-fi in this case while keeping the thread high.

It's always someone acts stupidly so the thread can exist... if that character didn't go alone into that room that thread would be avoided... and so on.

When will they learn that good horror movie are the ones that the characters act smart, but the thread outsmarts them.

Seriously, this show has good acting, good special effects and image, but the decisions are plain dumb. Yeah, you get some backstory on why this character may act like this, but I guess what bothers me is that this show could have been much much better with some smart decisions.

Bottom line, I like the show, and I am 5 episodes in and will finish the first season and depending on the ending I will be watching more seasons if they are to come because I find the acting compelling enough for it, but they do have to step up the character intelligence and decision making.

I love seeing Tom Felton getting more acting gigs, he is quite good in this show, as well as the always believable Natalia Tena.

I think you've answered your own question! Creating great and unavoidable threats costs the writers a great deal of time and effort. Lame, easily avoidable threats are much easier to produce...

I'm about 5 in too.
The characters are pretty dumb, they dont communicate with each other or update each other on life threatening events they have just experienced

I'm up to ep 8 now.
They just keep getting dumber.

Also the giant space ship they're on is designed so that any sort of puncture is catastrophic!
