One of the best films of the year

One of the best films of the year so far. Eliza Hittman did an excellent job writing and directing the film. She handles the subject matter very well, never sensationalizing and telling the story without judging or preaching. This feels very real and could be the story of countless young women. Sidney Flanigan is great in her film debut, a true natural who is compelling and believable. She deserves serious Oscar consideration for her performance here. The rest of the cast are all good too. For me, this is Eliza Hittman's best film. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates good independent films. My rating is a 9/10.

I love this movie as well, it's so well done. But it's weird it's a 2020 film, looks like it was made in 2013 or 2014.

Looks like it was set in those times. In 2020 nobody would want to karaoke. Especially with strangers.

Agree. The film makes you feel like you are on this journey with Autumn and Skyler. The gritty and disorienting depictions of NYC streets, subways reminded me a little of Midnight Cowboy. There were elements that made me think it was set earlier in the decade too.

Midnight Cowgirl? That's what came to mind when I saw this one. But instead of Joe Buck and Ratso Rizzo there are two girls who come to NYC for an abortion. Most of it takes place in Port Authority--yup---the closest place on Earth to purgatory. Many commuters have had to spend the night there after missing the bus. 2 nights is rare though. But the good news is they're doing a complete renovation; the bad news is it won't be done for 10 years. So sit back, relax, and sink in those 71-year-old Port Authority purgatory vibes! Filmed in 2019 and the release we interrupted by the pandemic. Anyway worth seeing for a low budget NYC experience. The whole abortion thing was handled well, but the dialogue seemed mostly improvised.
