Why on earth have the ghost appear so close to them??

When the mentalist was explaining the plan to his wife for me it was more than obvious that him and the billionaire would be standing in the house behind windows or up on a balcony, not 10 frigging meters away from her!!

The billionaire was clearly a hardcore man with balls with enormous guilt and regrets towards his wife, of course he would go and try to touch or hug the ''ghost'' .

I loved the movie but that scene was beyond stupid since during the whole movie the mentalist was very clever.

Completely agree. I was wondering how he planned to pull it off. The billionaire did not seem like a fool, his dalliance with a psychic notwithstanding.

The whole movie is weak, with lots of unexplicable decisions.
This one is plain stupidity.
And bad writing too. All of a sudden he is an idiot, and so is she.
Couldn't she run away at least?

by that point i was just waiting for the movie to end.. far too long.
also, how in the heck was their plan supposed to work?! Ezra would no doubt run to the "ghost"

as OP said if Stan had taken Ezra inside the building and made him see the ghost his plan wouldn't have gone sour, it was so silly towards the end.

even so, the bodyguard would've seen it was a scam cause he was creeping about.
i agree the film kinda fell apart near the end.
