Margot Robbie is not a draw

Just like Jennifer Lawrence who she is being set up to replace Margot is not a draw. Just another "IT" girl who is hot and people confuse her beauty with talent. Only a matter of time before her 15 mins are up and another IT girl dethrones her.

reply

STARS DONT EXIST ANYMORE...TOO MUCH DIVISION OF ENTERTAINMENT... LAWRENCE IS A GOOD ACTOR(JOY)AS IS ROBBIE(I,TONYA)...NO ONE IS DRAW ENOUGH TO PUT A WHOLE FILM ON THEIR SHOULDERS FOR THE WIN ANYMORE.

reply

Scarlett Johansson is a draw as is Tom Cruise.

reply

THEIR FRANCHISE'S ARE DRAWS...IF TOM CRUISE MAKES A ROM COM,ITS GONNA FLOP...JOHANSSONS FILMS UNDERPERFORM ALL THE TIME....THE AGE OF MOVIE STARS IS LONG OVER...THIS IS THE AGE OF FRANCHISES AND WORD OF MOUTH.

100% agree with this.

On A very personal opinion on this idea of this being good or bad I’m quite indecisive.

The bad side of the movie star era being over : film studios dared more to try anything on film, they just got stars who sold their stuff and it would be a hit. They didn’t have to ask will this subject will sell or is this genre in vogue ?

They just got an actor or actress who sells lots of tickets and they could go with literally any movie.

But the good side of this movie stars era is over we get better casting choices Especially for comicbook characters and any good adaptation of a famous book.

Since producers don’t feel pressure that hey the film will sell better with this actor, the ones who make the movies feel more free to go with unknown actors since they know their product will sell better with the actor who fits the best the part instead of being limited to actors who sell their movies.

In the movie stars era we would have never gotten Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans or Robert Downey Jr in the MCU they would have gone for actors who sell tickets.
I think Margot Robbie is a great Harley Quinn it’s just the film had the wrong director and writer but she is a great Harley Quinn

For Tom Cruise, transpose the R and the W and throw an F on the end, and that would be accurate.

I might have to somewhat agree, and many film commentators/podcasts/articles have said something similar.

There's still varying levels of popularity (Scarlett Johansson's draw power is still stronger than a no-name actress from the CW). But there have been countless modern examples of stars who have not really made a huge splash in other films outside of their popular franchises, or have not posted consistent successes at the BO.

In the 90s and prior to that, Arnold, Tom Cruise and Will Smith were dependable names and their success rate was high. Today, a Tom Cruise movie is not a guaranteed hit...and might in fact be an outright bomb (like The Mummy). Will Smith hit it big with Aladdin and Bad Boys, but those were safer bets based on established franchises. He's had a lot of bombs, even when working with high profile directors.

It's the age of streaming and lots of entertainment options now. It seems audiences almost demand the movie have a good 80% and above score on RT to get their attention now. If not, that movie is just going to have to wait and get in the back of the line of their movie queue.

The only movie shes carried on her own was I Tonya and i think that's stretching it cause its a small budget. She mostly plays it safe supporting roles and indie films

reply

Only few actors can make people watch movies these days. The Rock, Tom Cruise, and maybe Leo. The days are Stars is basically done. The only movies people watch now are Marvel movies because today’s generation have short attention spans and have no care for cinema.

How many women in Hollywood ARE legitimate draws? Like, someone that can sell a movie on her own even without a strong supporting cast of other stars, regardless of the material? Men are almost always the stars, not the women

reply

How many "movie stars" are there at all?

What films today are primarily driven at the box office simply b/c of the actor?

reply

Anything with DiCaprio

reply

yeah, the list is short, isn't it

reply

The ROCK is money.

perhaps chris pratt

reply

Chris Fatt? Really?!

reply

The main reason I went to see this film was Robbie because I thought she was so good in Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood. So I guess that makes her a little bit of a draw?

reply

Very talented actress. Pretty as hell too.

reply

Ummm. I feel kind of drawn to her.

reply

She looks just like Jamie Presley who looks like a million other girls just like that.

Margot Robbie is not that pretty lol.

She's a type.
