Ali Baba?
I already wasn't into this adaption the way I have enjoyed various others. Ali was the last straw though, was this just another desperate attempt by the BBC to shoe horn some multiculturalism in?

shareNot true, Ali Baba was one of the books that young Ebenezer Scrooge lost himself in when he was left along at boarding school during the holidays. Scrooge talked about the story of Ali Baba in no small detail in the Dicken's novella, and its been mentioned in several TV and movie adaptations of A Christmas Carol.
I don't get Cratchit's wife being black however - that does indeed smack of multiculturalism. Was interracial marriage a thing during 1800's England, or are we supposed to ignore the actress is black but is playing a white woman??
