Screw the haters, this was fun and sweet!
Disney really should have explicitly stated in their promo that this film is an adaptation of their staged musical just to avoid confusion. Even with that people who has been moaning and insulting that film before it was even aired just because they have an obsession over the Lohan version really irritates me. There was a lot of love put into this new version, the two main actresses are great and you feel they deeply cared about the material so I can only imagine how depressing it must be having people insulting their work weeks before and time on the sole basis that they love the Curtis/Lohan version. I really do not get these people. I love the original overboard , I love the original Ghostbusters , they still exist and are there for me if I want to watch them, I have no need to moan about the remakes . The ones who has been writing bad stuff about Freaky Friday 2018 should watch their beloved version if its so flawless instead of wasting their time on social media bad mouthing a movie that people have been working on for months. Also their arguments that the Curtis/Lohan version is the original is real ignorant. There has been 4 version of the story that is based on a book. 4 versions !! The early 2000's film is not the original so stop using that invalid argument. This film is based on a musical play and should not even be compared to the previous versions as it is more of a Broadway-ish show on film and it does not try to reproduce the other versions at all. If you hate musical just do not watch, simple as that do not go on Twitter to trash publicly something you know even before watching that you will not like. That would be like me who hate war movies who would go on Twitter to insult an upcoming war film. I feel bad because the stage show was great and this is just a continuation of it but unfortunately it's been overshadowed by hipsters who are forcing the ghosts of that other remake over it :( With that said, it was a good adaptation of the play.I did miss a lot of the songs because they had to cut a lot of them to fit the TV format. The Song I really missed the most was "Busted" that see mother and daughters discovering each other inner secrets. Beside that the writers did a great job at tweaking the play into a Disney TV movie. The best part of the film is that they kept Heidi as the mother. Disney could have went with a famous actress but they made the awesome decision to ask Heidi to reprise the role she performed so well in the stage musical. The mother daughter chemistry was excellent , the supporting actors were all well cast. Really good job. I would put this in the same bag as Andi Mac when it comes to Disney Channel, it seems the station is making an effort to win back the entire family instead of concentrating just purely on children and we definitely should encourage them to keep up in that direction.
