How in the world does the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade survive when it has gone downhill?
Every Thanksgiving my family watches the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and when I have seen it I seem to think that the parade has lost it's luster and is just not worthy of watching every year. Take for instance why do they do a whole hour of Broadway musicals just before the balloons and floats appear? I cannot understand why each Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is obsessed with Broadway musicals and they should have a better preshow perhaps introducing the celebrities and talk about the highlights of the parade much like a Super Bowl preshow where they introduce the football players. Another thing I have about Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is that the whole parade seems like a commercial showcase because out of all the balloons and floats there are few cartoon floats but most of their floats and balloons are based on commercials and mascots. Like Hilton has a float that promotes it's Homewood Suites chain that features it's mascot Lewis The Duck and there's balloons of the Pillsbury Doughboy and the Sinclair Oil dinosaur and when I see this it makes think i'm watching a commercial hour than a parade. I wonder what mascot will be next in the parade to have a balloon? Bullseye from Target or Twinkie the Cowboy? I also cannot figure out why when Santa Claus makes his entrance at the end of each parade Santa Claus just sits in his sleigh float and annoyingly waves his arms like he is hailing a taxi over and over and they should make Santa Claus talk and say Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas rather than waving his arms. If I was Macy's I would just retire Santa Claus and replace his entrance with the Rockettes performing a special finale because I feel that Santa Claus's entrance wastes time on the parade and it should be shortened. Last thing I feel that Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade seems to be focused on infants and toddlers because they seem to have floats and balloons based on Peter Rabbit Barney Thomas The Tank Engine and Sesame Street and I think floats and balloons that are geared to teens and older kids would be better. I do hope Macy's improves their parade this Thanksgiving to make it worth seeing
