The Flight Attendant: Too many flashbacks

Overall, it was a decent mini-series with an "Alfred Hitchcock" + "Brian De Palma" atmosphere.

It had a good cast, great performances, and a good overall plot; however, there were "too many" flashbacks that were emphasized and used "too often", which were annoying at times and some were a slight bit convoluted since the method used for some of those flashbacks were almost on the verge of science-fiction/fantasy that were not necessary.

My Rating: 7/10

i didn't get past the first episode because of a few reasons and the flashbacks = one of them.

Yeah, first episode seemed promising. I started to lose interest very soon also, about third episode I wasn’t even watching really. My partner did watch whole season, so I managed to see the ending while I was in the same room on my phone.

I was also put off by too much flashbacks and her talking in her head all the time with the murdered guy.

yeah i don't like that writers think it's clever to use the "dead person giving you hints"
it's pretty lame.

i get the actor wants to keep getting paid but f*** him.

It reminds me of Due South, where they really went a bit too far with the dead loved one giving advice.

My main criticism of this show is that it tries to encompass too many genres at the same time -- murder mystery, spy thriller, slapstick and psychological drama.

Cuoco's transformation from free-wheeling drunk to self-actualization was the least satisfying element of this show and I'm not sure the flashbacks to her family life were really all that necessary for resolution of the plot. It's almost too powerfully portrayed and veers into a depressing sentimentality which is out of step with the rest of the story, in addition to being just too frequent to be a distraction.

I will give Cuoco credit, though, for threading the needle between all of these roles pretty well.

The flashbacks, the FBI partners dialogue, and every single scene with her brother were the worst. Tedious! I also lost interest in Perez's character after a few episodes to the point of being put off.
I seem to be in the minority for liking her dialogue with the dead guy she loved in her head. I liked how he would react to revelations about himself. Those moments and the script for the bad guys were the best in the show IMO.
The story was absurd and played out more like a rudderless fantasy of the show runner rather than a well woven tale. Still, laden with flaws as it was, I'd watch a 2nd season.

"I'm with the CIA" smh

The Sokolov dialogue was annoying.

Agree! Also, I think that those conversations with Alex in her head were just too long. It would break the flow of the scene. The rest of the series is good :)
