Episode 8 - The Eye of the World

SPOILERS

Well it was a bit of a fizzer wasn't it ? The Eye of the World was a dump and the Dork One turned out to be a pushover. Never mind the Trollocks and poor Inynavy got barbecued and then Gwendoline did a Jesus and brought her back from the dead. Respeck ! Perrin the Lord of the Doggies was useless as usual and Randy in the end said " Screw you guys I'm outta here ! "

And at the end the mysterious sea people for some reason really hated that little girl on the beach. That had to be the very definition of overkill !

Did anyone think that Fal Daree Fal Dara looked like Meereen ? I expected to see Drongo or Reygal lurking about like happy wanderers.

And the 3,000 year flashback was good. They had some really nice, affordable throw cushions too !

Edit: I learned from watching a Youtube video that the Dork One wasn't such a pushover after all. It was all part of his dastardly plan !

It was an ok episode but the battle scenes were too dark for my tv. I messed with the settings on my tv so it could be an issue with my tv. I think these directors use dark scenes to mask poor special effects. The eye of the world was a bit of dump.

Why do you call Madeleine Madden's character Gwendoline? Isn't she supposed to be Egwene? The rulers of the city got too much screen time instead of our heroes. Perrin is spending too much sulking. I thought there was too much of an emphasis on the WOMEN protecting the city. Girl power! Yay! You go gurl!

I HATE subtitles so I was checking my settings during the beginning to figure out why there were effing subtitles on my screen. Subtitles force to me watch the text instead of focusing on important stuff like facial expressions and boobs. I could have done without the 3,000 year flashback with jets flying around and those people aren't in the current story.

The whole ship scene at the end was a pointless teaser. I would have preferred to see these ship folks show up next season. I enjoyed the show overall and I look forward to more.

Yep the battle scenes were all about the witchy women and their wiggly badassery which is why I said Never mind the Trollocks !

I like the name Gwendoline better than Egwene. Perrin is as useless as a Lord of the Doggies without any doggies.

I had to go back and rewatch the opening flashback scene after I worked out how to turn the subtitles on. I might as well have not bothered.

Speaking of boobs I read somewhere that in the books bosoms feature heavily. Lots and lots of bosoms ! But in the TV show not a single bosom ! What the ... ?

This show is just barely close enough to the books to share the same name. I'm not surprised the tits have been left out. To be fair though, that is more inline with cultures in the book we haven't seen on screen yet, but hard saying if we will. It's a pretty shitty adaptation, and the ratings crash by the end of the season says a lot
