Wheel of time

I sure hope this movie builds likable characters. Jordan was a master at creating and developing characters (excluding all the whiny parts and long drawn out sections where nothing happens to move the story and/or the characters forward). He was also a master of building societies with unique characteristics. I sure hope it isn't a rush to battle scenes and the like. I can understand it if this was an hour and a half movie but it is a series. Also I sure hope the characters align with the book. It should be a relatively easy thing to do to at least find characters that match the descriptions of the characters in the books.. Watching the trailers I think it is going to be a disappointing series for those of us that read the books so long ago. Other than Moraine, I'm not sure who the characters were exactly but I did not see one that matches the description of Lan Mandoragon even slightly. I also didn't see one that fit Matt's mischievous style. All that said, I really want this to be good. Of course things happening will shift, change some, and whatnot as movies always do and I'm good with that but Jordan's books are about the characters. This series is either going to very good or an epic fail in my mind. Thanks for reading!

TLDR

I hope the writers for this show do what the "Game if Thrones" writers did for the first 5 season or so... give the source material the ruthless editing it needed all along!

I loved the first few books. But even I had to give up around book 4 or 5. It was just too goddamn slow, thousands of pages where nothing significant happened.

I barely made it through the first book and then gave up. It was nothing but travelling village to village.

Well judging by the hash they are making of Isaac Asimov's Foundation you probably shouldn't get your hopes up.

I read about a third of the way through The Eye of the World and it was very poorly written and boring on top of that. I don't know why the series is so popular.
