Should I be hopeful?

I don't know any of the writers or actors and I have not read any of Jordan's books but it is high fantasy... I didn't make it through the first episode of the Shannara series but then I never read beyond the first novel and I have bad memories of it. I only watched the first episode of GoT but was impressed enough to read the five novels, although I don't much care if he writes more. I am a big fan of Robert Howard, Fritz Leiber, Michael Moorcock, Jack Vance and Tolkien.
So the questions are: Would a good adaptation of The Wheel of Time appeal to me? AND... What are the odds of this being a good adaptation?
I mean -- I like Conan the Barbarian even though it is an insult to Howard. I love The Lord of the Rings even though it is a very imperfect version of Tolkien. Is this likely to be worthwhile?

I don't know. The Wheel of Time series started well and then meandered so much that I don't know if I would bother watching it. By the time the arcs were closed off, they had lost their storytelling power, I felt.

There are some good visual ideas in the series that could be interesting, but I think it would have to be worked over pretty thoroughly to make it into a good series.

If anything, that might be reason to be hopeful. TV writers will slice out the meandering stuff. As long as they don't try to milk it for every inch of celluloid they can get, or replace it with their own (inferior) inventions, it could wind up tightening it up.

Good point!
