The Wonder Years meet That 70s Sow?

It's set in the 70s. There's a voice over for the cute little kid. After that?
Everyone, isn't very nice to each other.

EDIT: I spoke a bit too soon. It ended on a positive note.
I may try watching this one again.

Is this show any good

reply

It wasn't too terrible. It's just that it has been done before. I doubt it waill last, but I could be wrong. Try watching it if you are really interested. You will have to decide if it's any good.

reply

Nah, it's a rip on the Goldberg's set in the 70s. It has none of the sincerity or timely social commentary of The Wonder Years and the writing is way below 70s Show. Just like Goldberg's it's a modern show doing a poor impression of a period show.

reply

The difference is that the Goldbergs aren't actually religious. That makes it a much more watchable show.

reply

I'm an atheist and it didn't bother me. The Goldberg's are Jewish BTW, in case you missed it.

reply

Obviously I didn't miss it, being a Jewish atheist myself, but they are not observant.

reply

They aren't very observant of the 80s either.

I'll be surprised if this show gets a second season but then I'm often wrong with those predictions.

reply

Having never seen The Goldburgs, you are probably right. You are certainly right about the sincerity or timely social commentary of The Wonder Years and the writing is way below 70s Show.

reply

If not familiar with the show, The Goldbergs is a family show set in the 80's and is ostensibly the memories of Adam Goldberg but 80's associations are not well done.

"F is for Family" on Netflix captures the 70's better than any current show, I would say better in many ways than That 70's Show. It's an animation and the first episode is somewhat off putting the season overall is fantastic. It's not a feel good show by any stretch though.

reply

Whoa! I must have missed "f is for Family" somewhere along the line. Now you have me curious.
I have been watching a great many horror/thriller movies though, due to October /Halloween being my favorite time of the year. I must investigate.
