Finally a woke film that is watchable...and enjoyable! (semi-spoilers)
Well if you're gonna do a dramedy that has to have wokeness in it...this is the way to do it. The film checked all the boxes for wokeness but at the same time, it wasn't all in your face to the point where you want to throw up. It covered EVERY aspect of woke and diversity but to be perfectly honest...it was hardly noticeable.
mexican middle-class family - check
black middle-class family - check
no nuclear white family - check

soyboy good for nothing WEAK husband - triple check

A HUGE list I know but Hanks does it again. His character will suck you in and you'll find yourself fully invested. Say what you will about the man's politics but his acting chops are on point! The only thing I found offensive about the story was making the Mexican guy a soyboy who didn't know how to use tools. That is the biggest fiction in the world...no Mexican man would ever fall off a ladder or not know how to install a dishwasher.
If you're staying away from this because of woke nonsense...don't. You will be needing a bottle of wine, a box of tissue, and a snuggie. The movie is an emotional rollercoaster ride so buckle up and enjoy!
