I did like the first one more. It seemed gloomier and the situations were more dire.
Yes, OK, I get that Pennywise is messing with them, but he just isn't in enough of the movie. Whenever he appeared, I enjoyed those scenes.
Oh, I see why they chose a homophobic scene. I didn't read the book. I read all of King's earlier novels, but stopped after reading Firestarter.
I still didn't care for the flashbacks, even though you say they were needed. If anything needed to be cut, it would be the flashbacks. I think that the director could have gotten a better result without so much.
As I said, I like movies over two hours as long as the material justifies it all. I just didn't think this movie needed to be as long. I was getting bored with it all and when the final battle came, I may have enjoyed it more if the movie hadn't bored me so. I just wanted it to be over.
Anyhow, I am not here to pick a fight with anyone, but I just think that a lot of potential was wasted here. Sometimes movies draw you in and sometimes they don't; you don't always know why.
