I don't understand why anyone would be interested in this. It looks gritty and cheap so far. The current "news" is just W. Phoenix running and wearing makeup.

Same reason people were interested in Logan. It'll be something different for a change.
shareI think one of the main reasons maybe because people view Joaquin Phoenix as an exceptional yet eccentric talent , especially due to his childhood and coming from the family he had. It makes for an interesting kind of situation with him playing the Joker imo.
