Why Did Johnny Want His Wife To Have His Mom's <Spoiler> That She Got From <Spoiler>? (Unexplainable Plot Hole?)

I found this to be completed unfathomable.

Back when this show was just a fairly normal show in terms of plot lines (i.e. no fights resulting in massive yacht explosions, no billionaire guy hellbent on his dojo taking over the valley at any cost, literally looking to kill kids, etc) one aspect of it was how much Johnny hated his stepfather, Sid.

So why did he want his wife to have his mom's wedding ring from her marriage to that same Sid (whom he hated)?

Literally makes no sense whatsoever...

Because people attach a lot of sentimental value to things like that, especially is the person has passed away.

The stepfather isn’t a factor. It was his mothers ring, the same one that she wore when she was alive.

Yeah but it was her wedding ring from Sid, whom he hated, not his father so it doesn't really make any sense...

Again it doesn't matter. It has sentimental value because it was his mothers. He isn't associating it with sid the same way that you are. Sid probably bought her everything, that doesn't mean he isn't going to associate her things with her.

Maybe you didn't watch the early seasons of the show... I don't know... but if you did and think that, we'll just have to agree to disagree 👍.

Its best to just fast forward all those talkative scenes and only focus on the karate fights

I liked how they had a flashback scene of Johnny at his mom's grave at the beginning. Because then when he went back there at the end, you got the real feels...

I was hoping that she really wasn't dead but rather faked her death instead to get away from Johnnys horrible, abusive stepfather. It would have been great if Johnny reconnected with her before his fight with Wolf and it was that strength that got him to defeat Wolf

mmm... Could have been interesting. If it had been a foggy night, they could have made it like in the Truman Show when his dad reappears in that...

In fact - Going one step further they could have made the ENTIRE show like the Truman Show but for Johnny! It could have revealed the entire setup was just TV drama as people rooted for Johnny to reopen his Cobra Kai dojo. What an ending that would have been!

You have some very good and interesting ideas. Hope we get a spin off series next year called Iron Dragons and maybe another one about Miguels dad in Mexico but coming to the Valley to find Carmen
