Maybe. I prefer Daniel finds out that he was a Japanese spy during WW2 and killed many Americans. Or maybe he was one of the pilots who attacked Pearl Harbor or maybe he even master minded the attack. Daniel would want to distance himself from his past with Miyagi

Maybe he lied about his military career and stole the medal of honor
