Reference to The Act of Killing (2012), Höss' hacking cough
At the end we see Höss making a hacking cough, then it cuts to modern scenes of the Auschwitz museum, and it goes back to Höss acting normally. I think this is a reference to the end of The Act of Killing where an actual killer in Indonesia reenacts killing, and has a similar gagging reflex afterward.
