Coming to VOD (digital) this Friday, 15th July 2022.

Yeah, I was expecting this to have a 45 day theatrical window. It was announced early on that it would be released on Peacock 45 days after it's cinema debut. So I wasn't expecting to see this on VOD till 8th August.

Instead it's got a 3 week theater exclusive run. Less than half what I expected.

It's not due to poor performance either as it's grossed $99 million worldwide on a $17 million budget. It's done pretty damn well.

You can only imagine that the Universal analytical experts trying to maximize profits think now is the time to hit streaming. When interest in the film is still high. To strike when the iron is still hot. They have all the data obviously and are probably predicting the box office returns to drop of a cliff soon. Everyone who has wanted to see it at theaters probably already has and with films like Thor being released adding to the competition, it's time to cash in on digital I guess.

I do wonder how much money films make on streaming for these companies. It's obviously a pretty penny but whether it's a moderate income or a legitimate money flow is impossible to tell. I'd love to know.
