The Poster of "Honey West," (Anne Francis) on the Wall in Cliff Booths' Trailer

The scene where Cliff Booth drives home from Hollywood on a Saturday night to spend the night alone in his rather shabby trailer with "Man's Best Friend"(dog Brandy) instead of on the town with hot chicks...is one of the best scenes in this movie.

And all the detail, all around in that trailer. on the TV and lying around. A "Sgt Rock" comic book, for instance.

But this: there is a big poster on Cliff's trailer wall of an actress who debuted in the 50's(in movies like Forbidden Planet and Bad Day at Black Rock) and then had a brief career as a "TV sexbomb" in the 60's.

Her name was Anne Francis. And in the 1965-66 TV season, she played a female private eye called "Honey West" who investigated cases and beat up the bad guys with a sexy mix of judo and karate. Hot stuff -- blonde, sexy and with a sexier still mole near her mouth.

And here's Cliff Booth with a big poster of Anne Francis -- in a bikini, yet -- on his trailer wall.

Here's my guess. Cliff Booth was a TV stuntman in the 60's(it is now 1969 in the story.) I'll bet he did some stunt work on "Honey West" in 1965 or 1966 -- maybe Anne Francis beat him up in a scene.

I'm guessing that ol' Cliff had an affair with Honey West...er...Anne Francis...and has commemorated it with her poster on his wall.

I've seen OUATIH several times and have never noticed that. So much to explore in this film.

He also had 12" Louis Marx company action figures of Johnny West and Chief Cherokee. I had those guys myself as a small boy. Cliff is such a great character. Never thought I would like a Brad Pitt role so much.

Most of Honey West is on youtube. Pretty good for the 60s and Anne is a good actress. https://moviechat.org/tt0058814/Honey-West

A lot of great detail in that scene. Leo's more opulent home had detail too -- like small Hopalong Cassidy drink glasses in different colors -- Rick Dalton adds one in close-up near the end of the film. Its this kind of detail that keeps QT a notch above others.

He's a great friend(if for pay); a true hero, a man of simple tastes who knows himself, a man we admire -- especially with those competent deadly skills he possesses.

And the wife looked like she deserved it, if he did do it.

Oscar winner Jack Palance said "its not the acting that wins the Oscar, its the role." Brad Pitt found that out.

Fun nostalgia. Yes, Anne Francis had movie star qualities in that show -- sexy, pretty (that mole!), intelligent and funny. She was paired with her co-star from "Bad Day at Black Rock"(the great Spencer Tracy movie)...John Ericson, as her partner.

This show was a spin-off from another "cool mystery show" -- Burke's Law -- with Gene Barry as a millionaire LA police captain who lived in a Beverly Hills mansion and drove a Rolls Royce. Each week, Burke would investigate a whodunit with suspect guest stars ranging from old Hollywood (Gloria Grahame, Lizbeth Scott, Ronald Reagan) to New Hollywood(Paul Lynde, the Smothers Brothers, Frankie Avalone.)

One Burke's Law episode debuted Honey West as Burke's co-investigator. Its the "missing" Honey West episode.

BTW, another reason I figure that Cliff Booth had an affair with Anne Francis is...I don't think he would put her poster up just for show.
