Yeah Cliff wasn’t that kind of guy. He was loyal and honorable and saved Rick’s life at great risk to his own.
Look at how he turned down the Hippie Chick in the car, most guys at the time would have jumped at the opportunity...but the first thing Cliff does is ask her age. He also shows concern for George Spahn and despite the creepy ominous tone at the ranch he presses on to see how George is doing.
Maybe Cliff doesn’t see some of his decisions as very risky; like the ranch encounter or squaring up to Bruce Lee because he knows he’s very close to the description that has been bestowed upon him...as “one of the deadliest guys alive.”
He’s confident and content enough with who he is, his capabilities and his life trajectory that he doesn’t need to make any moves on Rick’s woman. Cliff is very stoic and makes peace with whatever life throws at him.
As far as women go, I don’t think a guy with his looks and swagger would have any difficulty landing a beautiful woman. His past with his wife and everything that happened there might make him very picky in terms of dating. But overall Cliff is too loyal and honorable to hurt Rick in any way. They’re not just colleagues...they’re best friends. If you look at it...Rick doesn’t seem to have any real friends outside of Cliff...and the way he invites him to watch tv and Cliff says he’ll order Pizza....there’s a big bromance there. So Cliff would never make a move on Rick’s woman. And if she made a move, he’d shoot her down like he did the hippie chick.
