Watching this movie did anyone else get an Altman-esque vibe during some of it? The slow, loose style reminded me of his movies. Sort of chilling with this mosaic of characters as they go about their lives. Until the dramatic moments of course, then it's pure Tarantino !

shareA little, but the dialogue didn't seem like Altman at all. Altman would put little tiny microphones around so that other character could be heard talking while the main dialogue was being said. Dialogue overlapped quite a bit, sort of like real life. Also, there was a lot of improvisation in Altman's films, while I feel Tarantino is much more in control of each scene.

shareI thought the style was a reflection of the films of the time this movie is set in - which particularly included all the driving scenes.

shareI find it a little like Altman(mostly Shortcuts), but for the most part I just don't see it. Even though it is different than most of Tarantino's other films, it is still Tarantino all the way.
shareThe dialogue and characters are all Tarintino, but I think more the way its structured and whatnot has a little Altman flavor.
shareI will give you that there is a little of Altman there, but I just don't see a lot there. Like I said, it reminds me of Shortcuts somewhat, but most of that was that it took place in L.A., plus that there was this feeling of dread throughout watching both movies.
