Have audiences not hated a mainstream superhero movie this much since Fantastic 4?

I haven't talked to one person who actually liked this.

reply

I didn’t think it was bad. Certainly not the greatest movie ever, but it was a decent flick to watch over the long weekend.

Must be something about comic book movies and Star Wars movies that make people so divisive and extreme that it can only be rivaled by politics, haha.

reply

I figured as much. The internet loves to exaggerate. When Black Widow or Suicide Squad 2 come out, it'll be either the best or worst movie ever made.

reply

This is that bad. The internet is right.

RT audience score at 74%, not the downvoted BS on IMDb, tells me otherwise.

reply

The fact that you source the ONE place that shows this in a favorable light tells me you want this to be better than you know it is. No mention of critic score on RT, no mention of metacritic user OR critic score, and completely dismissing imdb. In the real world, that's known as cherry picking.

This was pretty good. You’ll enjoy this fake pitch meeting for this film. This guy is great!

reply

It's funny because it's true. This movie made some godawful decisions I've not seen made in a big budget movie before.

The studio gave Patty Jenkins free reign to do whatever she wanted, and she proved she absolutely cannot write a superhero story. She tried to make a Heaven Can Wait remake instead and couldn't even do that right.

That said, it wasn't Fant4stic bad. That would've required Jenkins to leave halfway through filming and have people edit together what they had to try and make a movie.

Huge budget movies with decades of material to draw on coming off a spectacular first film, should not be reduced to a time killer because we are stuck at home with nothing else to do....and a shitty one at that. The decades of lore and history and proven potential of comic book and star wars movies are exactly why people get worked up when a movie stumbles this badly. We KNOW they can be so much better.

reply

I never complain about a length of film, even the extended lotr movies or titanic, but this just took the piss.

Its definitely not a time killer - it made the 2.5 hour movie seem like 5 hours, it was such a chore watching it all.

reply

Agreed. I had to watch it in multiple viewings to get through it.

reply

Are you talking about 2005 Fantastic Four or the 2015 Fantastic 4. Because i was more entertained by 2005 Fantastic Four than i was by this. This is Boring Bad. 2005 Fantastic Four was Cheesy Bad. Which is automatically better.

reply

2015.

reply

Yeah that was pretty boring and bad.

reply

... people like the Fantastic 4?

reply

Your title means the opposite of what you intended, genius.

Fix it.

reply

That's actually funny. I didn't catch it either.

reply

FF15 was far worse. No comparison.

reply

Was that before or after Green Lantern? Also there was Thor 2 and Iron Man 3.

reply

Also the Supergirl and Batwoman TV series playing currently.

reply

I'd watch Iron Man 3 again any day before I watch this again.

reply

Iron Man 3 was fine. Iron Man 2 was the clunky one.

reply

Agreed. I really like Iron Man 3. It was sort of back to basics for Tony. Like his internaction with the kid as well.

reply

I have. It's a movie. Even stupid ones have fans.

For suicide squad, 4 of 4 of my go to reviewers hated it
For Captain Marvel, 4 of 4 hated it
For the Justice League, 4 of 4 hated it.
For green Lantern, 4 of 4 hated it.
For the Dark Knight Rises, 4 of 4 hated it.
For Wonder Woman 1984, 3 of 4 hated it.

It depends on who you listen to.

reply

This one is far from the worst. People were just disappointed with it because the first WW movie was so good, and we were all hoping this one would be good because there have been very few movies released this year and we've all been stuck at home.
