Heidi was way too old for Walter.

How old was she suppose to be ?

reply

Julia Roberts is probably right around 50, I expect the male soldier was more like mid-20s to 30 or so.

reply

I guess that Heidi was suppose to be younger than her real years...probably around 40...and Walter maybe around 30. He wasn't a kid.
If it was reversed, of course, no one would think a thing. That's probably why they did it ..

reply

Walter looked like early 20s to me.

reply

I wasn't certain that we were supposed to think she was romantically interested in him. I found this ambiguous.

I think he was certainly interested in her, but I got the impression that, at least for most of the story, her interest in him was more as a mama bear looking after her cub.

reply

I don't know. There was a mutual attraction..a bond that clearly formed between them. And they did have chemistry.
And Heidi going for that makeover isn't exactly mother bear behavior.

But, in the end, it doesn't matter. It ends somewhat ambiguously.
Heidi seemed content to see he'd ended up ok...but then she looked down and saw he'd messed with her silverware.
Did he actually really recognize her all along or was it just his old playful nature still alive?

reply

Missed something, did Walter not recognize her because of induced amnesia? And what is the significance of the silverware?

Also, will there be additional seasons or is it already cancelled.

reply

Let me see if I can remember this myself...
best I remember Heidi had noticed that Walter was forgetting other details of his life beyond the trauma... especially regarding his friend that had died..So she caught on that the drug wasn't working as intended..(or as how she had thought it should)

Then Heidi knowingly chowed down with Walter on the drug laden food in large doses so she could keep him from being reassigned ...and the result of it's affects on she and Walter both was profound enough to blow up the program.

Years later Heidi remembered nothing of her years at Homecoming...and evidently Walter had disappeared with a huge hole in his memory too..
Nobody remembered Homecoming. But her boss.

All the events around the finale brought back her memories and she finally decided to go check and see if Walter had remembered and followed that map they'd once talked about following. She mostly wanted to see that he was ok.
She found him at a Diner but he gave no clue of recognizing her.. They chatted like strangers a few minutes then left.
Then she looked down and saw he'd messed with her silverware.
Had he recognized her or not.......had his memory come back?
We don't know

There will be another season but probably with different actors...like True Detective.

reply

No.

I actually never got a maternal whiff from her at any point in the series, and by the end her interest certainly was romantic.

reply

It seemed to me throughout that she was suppressing her attraction to him since it was unprofessional. Once she was no longer his therapist (& she had her memory back), she drove cross-country to consummate their romance, trying to fulfill that dream they had together at their last meal at Homecoming about living in a small town near Yosemite together.

reply

Walter was 24-27.
Heidi... that's problematic. She was hired by Geist having only three years of work experience after college. How old does it make her? Who knows. I'd say she was supposed to be 30-32 during her Geist days and somewhat around 35 while in Fat Morgan. That is of course if we accept that those four years really did pass and were not just her memory playing tricks.

reply

Walter's mother said to leave him alone. Heidi just went to make sure he was okay. That's why she was crying at the end. I do think she wanted to be with him, but she did what was best for him by leaving.

reply

The documents that the DoD guy was reading stated that Heidi's date of birth was January 10, 1972.
Walter said his drive to Yosemite was when he was 17 just before he joined the army.
The documents the DoD guy was reading said he joined the army in 2015. Lets say he was 18 by then.
This would make Heidi 46 and Walter 21.
