For the VanGogh lovers

As someone that has read all his letters and been semi obsessed with his art and life, I loved this. It does a good job at presenting VanGogh as simple (he only wanted to paint!) and yet complex (he suffered tremendously with purpose and value and relationships). I really enjoy the conversations that illuminated this unique psyche. I appreciate the avoidance of showing the action (the ear, the gunshot) but showing what Vincent was like in the aftermath. The camerawork I found to be distracting. And some historical inaccuracies were annoying. But overall i very much enjoyed. Recommended to anyone interested in VanGogh.

Enjoyed it very much, except the chimpanzee-banging-on-a-piano score was distracting and irritating.

I wondered how much of the movie to trust. How much was drawn directly from his letters and how much made up.
