Yes it is worth watching.
Based closely on the film of the same name from 2011 starring Saoirse Ronan this new TV show started off well then dipped in the middle section before it picked up again in the last few episodes.
It suffers I think from following the events of the film very closely and stretching them out with a few minor plot add-ons to provide enough content to fill up the eight episodes. For instance the part played by the English family Hanna meets in Morocco from the 2011 film has been significantly expanded in this TV series. It provides content alright but of the more soap opera-ish variety. Perhaps it might have been better, though doubtless more difficult, to take a more creative approach and re-imagine the story somewhat.
The cast is good and there are no bad performances. Esme Creed-Miles (Hanna) has inherited her mother Samantha Morton's acting chops (and her father's too I guess) but you have to wait a while before that becomes obvious.
The story has some plot holes but what doesn't these days ? Quibbles aside it looks good for what appears to be a fairly low budget production and is quite entertaining. So long as you can put up with the less engaging sections between the highlights you should be happy with it. As for those highlights the show definitely has its moments.
It will be interesting to see where they take the story in the second season as they have exhausted the material from the 2011 film and will have to go their own way.
