How prominent are the Kiowa in this movie? Any battles with mounted warriors?

The Kiowa were one of the most warlike tribes of the plains. Despite their small numbers, they were among the most aggressive tribes encountered by the US Army. Are there any battles shown in this movie, or are they presented more along the modern 'correct' image of peaceful wise nature lovers?

There is almost no appearance of American Indians in this movie. As I recall, just one short scene where the two main characters encounter them and get some help during a severe weather emergency. There were more German immigrants than Indians

Blah. I am not going to bother with this one, then.

Your decision is the right one. I found this to be an avoidable movie. It never focussed on anything in particular to build the characters, Kiowa's and the girl being raised by them are one of those things.

"I won't watch a movie if a long dead group of people isn't depicted exactly how biased settlers wrote about them 150 years ago"

Kiowas are certainly not long dead. There are approximately 12,000 registered Kiowas and they are very proud of their warrior heritage.

Are they still "aggressive and warlike"? Do they describe themselves that way? 🤔 Would they describe their ancestors that way?

Well, this is part of the blurb on the tribe from a website owned and operated by the Kiowa themselves. Let's see what they say about their ancestors:

"Although in some ways the Kiowas displayed a typical Plains Indian culture, they had an effective and well organized military design and were thought to be one of the most warlike tribes."

Before you dismiss the website I linked as "just a casino" please bear in mind that this casino and website is owned and operated by the Kiowa tribe, and proudly presents information that the Kiowa want outsiders to know about their history.

As far as the present day, no, the Kiowa no longer fight the US Cavalry, but they have a proud warrior tradition and Kiowas have fought bravely in all of America's wars since WW1. You can read more about their pride in their veterans here. https://kiowatribe.org/va-services

Native Americans themselves are quite proud of their warrior histories and traditions. It's only White Liberals who try to hush all that up and paint the tribes as hapless, Elf-like peaceful constant victims.
