I have people in my family that do that. My cousin's wife is in her 50s, has never worked, and when she wants medical treatment or needs surgery, she has always gone to the charity hospital and says she has no money to pay and she gets treated for free. Apparently no questions asked.

shareAre you in the USA? I don’t know of any hospital that just gives free surgery at isn’t emergency surgery. I have a friend with horrible back problems and is on disability. She gets shots in her spine at times to manage the pain but surgery could help. She can not afford it. It costs a lot of money. I have chronic pain and illness. You’d be shocked how many people can’t afford to treat their medical needs. I need to see a neurologist due to horrible migraines that mess with my vision so bad I don’t drive anymore but we can’t afford it since we also have a sick child. Our money goes to support her medical needs. I know people who can no longer afford their medication and go through awful withdrawals and this isn’t pain medication either. I could go on and on but our medical care system in the USA is awful. Since my daughter got sick two years ago I’ve seen how bad. We are middle class and shouldn’t have to question how much tests cost, new medication and so on. We shouldn’t worry about losing our home. Yes, we have insurance but it won’t cover things till we pay so much first. I had an accident in the home back in November and that alone wiped out a lot funds. I required very expensive tests and physical therapy too. As I said we are middle class, my husband has wonderful job but my health combined with my daughters has hurt us very bad.
shareThis was in Louisiana. I never really thought about that, but all of her surgeries may have been life threatening and that's how she got approved. She's a diabetic and had a hysterectomy when she was younger and I know she had a hernia operation also. I'm not really sure what else.
