...they've never seen a single one of the stupid "Fast and Furious" movies? Will there be a problem knowing who everyone is and WTF they're doing?
And I don't mean to say "stupid movie" like it's a bad thing. My favorite movie of last year was"Aquaman", and movies don't come any sillier than that.
You may not get the constant going on of I am tougher than you if you don't know the beginning of why it started.Its not a bad movie.

It might be worth seeing, but only if it's accessible to someone who doesnt know the franchise. That tends to be a problem with franchise movies.
If your kinda crap is "hot guys, car chases, and hopefully, explosions," then there's no real reason you shouldn't haven't watched the F&F franchise already. That's basically what those movies are, albeit the franchise changes substantially after the third movie and morphs from a street racing franchise to an action franchise.
But to answer your original question, while it would be helpful to have seen the earlier films, it's not really essential. This film does not lean very heavily at all on those that came before it for its narrative.
You don't need to see the previous movies. In fact, it might help if you didn't.
shareWell I'd recommend you to atleast watch clips on Youtube if you're not interested in sitting through the full movies. Just so you can have a brief understanding of the characters.
Other than the two characters from the movies, this really had nothing to do with the franchise. It stands alone just fine.

Never saw it in a theater. Too bad, because who knows if I'll ever see anything in a theater again.
