I thought it was successful, but I don't really see where they could go with these characters.
The poor street thug becomes a refined citizen, the snob learns that life is more than upper crust, and a whore gets to retire her thang.
A sequel of any kind would ruin the ending of this story the way Arthur II ruined Arthur.
