Disappointed with the High Evolutionary and Adam Warlock

Really only shells of the comics characters. Maybe if Gunn brought in Warlock in Volume 2 he might have done something better with him. And what is with Marvel always wanting to show the actors faces? The High Evolutionary wears full body armor in the comics you have no idea what his face looks like.

I agree. Plus he ends up making them a bit too silly...

How was High Evolutionary silly?

The over the top acting and manic personality. Compared to what he is in the comics, this character is basically a clown.

reply

Yeah. I can relate a bit. Not to mention High Evolutionary had nothing to do with Rocket's origin in the comics. Still, a good movie even if it's not as faithful to the comics as I would have liked.

No idea what his face looks like? I have an idea of what he looks like without his mask. He looks like this:

Yes more ethnic replacement of white people in film by Disney.

reply

Okay, but the OP said you were never meant to know what his face looked like in the comics en though he was shown quite a few times without it.

I actually liked the twist on the mask in the movie. In the comics, he had armor that looks like his face. Here, he basically wears a mask that looks like his face as well but for completely different reasons.

The High Evolutionary and more then half the charcters in the MCU were created in the Fantastic Four.

Mighty Thor #134 (Nov. 1966) is how I remember his introduction along with the Knights of Wundagore, AKA The New Men. But there is no disputing that so much of the MCU has been retconned from the Fantastic Four to the point of making the First Family of Marvel superfluous. πŸ€”πŸ˜’

Given my alias name let's you know I am unhappy about so much New Age creative license being used at the expense of the stories and character arcs of the team.

Your right.....I guess I was thinking about "HIM". By the way is there any doubt The High Evolutionary was created by Jack Kirby.

And his first appearance was in an Incredible Hulk story.

reply

did not know that...I thought it was Thor.

reply

Doh. Looked it up and it is in Thor. He did appear in a 1960s Hulk comic though.

reply

so many classic storys from marvel in the 60's...they should just stick to that.

reply

Same. They are striving for diversification which is whatever but I thought the same thing. Wasted characters in both High Evolutionary and especially Adam Warlock

reply

I completely agree!!!
