Everything you're bringing up, basically dissolves the show's thin plot, and makes there be zero reason for any of the things that occur in the story, to have occurred. That is, in my humble opinion, one of the writer/story-tellers TOP jobs, is to make sure that in telling the story, you give the reader/audience compelling, actually sensible REASONS for things to be happening.
We are not given any background whatsoever about the family, other than the parents "flip" houses for a living (which IMO is not a great way to make a living, let alone raise a family). But yes, they likely had money enough to build their "dream home". Then again, maybe Hill House came damn cheap specifically BECAUSE no one wanted creepy death-trap, except for a naive couple who decide to bring their five innocent kids to one of the most evil places on earth.
Basically, the questions you're asking are requiring far more thought and explanation than the creators of this show were obviously ever prepared to put time into, much less give.
