If this takes Best Picture it would, I think, be the first time since Annie Hall that my favourite film of the year wins. It would also be a historic landmark for South Korean cinema, which unbelievably had never received a single nomination in any category prior to this year.
I suspect 1917 will take it but Parasite has now come so close, defying so many odds and stats. I’m trying to prepare myself for disappointment.
Although Parasite isn't my favourite film of the year, I would be happy if it won. I'm predicting 1917 to win, but I hope Parasite can beat it.
shareMy biggest fear is a Jojo Rabbit win, which I think is a (slim) possibility in a tight race.. but yes, I think 1917 has it.
If this year’s Oscar season wasn’t so drastically shortened, I think Parasite would have a better shot at taking it down. 1917 is a late release, parking at the box office during the voting period, that gives quite a rush on first viewing, and there simply isn’t time for a backlash.
