OK. They might not have been the clothes they were wading through sewage in but ones distributed at the diaster relief place but come on, go out and buy some new clothes. Go and check into a hotel and get a shower etc. They were getting paid in cash so had funds. Seemed a bit silly to me.

The rich wife made an impromptu party (I think she even used the English word 'impromptu') and wanted the family to get there early to rehearse and prepare. My guess is the poor family went straight from the disaster relief facility to the party as fast as possible.
