I've never seen an IMDb score like this one.

I saw this movie back in August and it had an 8.6 with 18,000 votes. A few weeks later it entered the top 250 at #85. Then it moved to #81 while dropping to an 8.5 then it came it at #76. Shortly after it was at #62. Now it has over 62,000 votes, moved back up to an 8.6 as is sitting at #48.

Normally scores on IMDb go down, but the fact that it keeps increasing its place in the top 250 is something I've never seen before. I've been monitoring it to continue to see its ascension. Not complaining, it's the best movie I've seen in the last few years.

I think it may have gotten a wider release as time went on and word of mouth spread. Around my area, it started to play in the 'art house' theaters at first but actually made its way to the bigger megaplexes for a short while.

Your post is from a month ago but as of now Parasite is even higher, at around #32:

The thing is, usually movies that get a lot of acclaimed start off in the high 8s, and ultimately end in the low 8s after a wide release. But this score doesn't move more than .1 off while it keeps going higher. It's strange.
