reply

Borderline nonexistent characterization.

It feels like Nolan is parodying himself now. He covered similar territory much better in Memento and Inception.

reply

Yeah, the characters were a joke. The dialogue was atrocious. I have no clue what Nolan was thinking when he made this, he's such a good filmmaker, but this.... This was really bad.

reply

Yeah, I also disliked The Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar. Haven't seen Dunkirk, as I don't generally enjoy war films and as stated I was disappointed by his previous two offerings.
I've seen the rest of his filmography sans Following. The last good film he made was Inception. He had a great run up to that point, with The Prestige being the best of the lot.

reply

Dunkirk was really good. His entire filmography is good if you ask me, but this one was a real stinker.

reply

I'll watch it some time, and Following. For completionist reasons.
I suppose he's never had a terrible movie, when compared to the vast majority of films, but given how great some of his work is, he's held to a higher standard by fans.

reply

Exactly.
