The Antagonist's cause for the Paradox
I enjoyed all aspects of the film except the cause for the purpose of the entire film's paradoxical loop, eg. the antagonist reasoning for wanting to take the entire world and all living things with him as this would prevent any future possibility of anyone sending any 'tech/information' back in time to make it possible for him to succeed, therefore, how can he not realize that his illogical attempt will certainly fail and he would not have the future tech to make it possible (paradox).
I don't think I have ever come across any 'tv-series/films' where the antagonist wants to obliterate 'all' living organisms on the planet 'if/when' 'he/she' expires simply because 'he/she' is expiring. So much effort in attempting the impossible paradox and yet nothing is inferred to his attempt of trying to save or cure his past-self from the decease, hence, his base motive for wanting global extinction at the moment of his and the cause for the entire film's paradox.
Although it was never confirmed one way or the other of the theory that Neil is Max which means that it is possible within the film's temporal logic to 'travel/inverse' years into the past which would require extraneous and dedicated effort, and yet the antagonist would not or could not do the same to 'save/cure' his younger self.
