jamie lee curtis winning is confusing

when i first saw the nominations for best supporting actress, she was the one i thought should not have been nominated at all. and then she goes and wins it? i just watched EEAAO again last night and can't see why she won. i mean, she's fun in the role, and she's unrecognizable in the makeup, but she plays a pretty one-note villain. johnny depp should've been nominated for Tusk if that's the criteria, and Tusk sucks.

Is woke Hollyweird confusing to you? The nominees should have read to you like a SAT question and then you would've known Curtis was the correct answer.

reply

bruh im having a stroke trying to comprehend your comment. not sure what any of this has to do with wokeness. and how is the SAT question formatted any different from any other test?

reply

I think part of the reason why she won was because she is well liked and they wanted to reward her for her career, not just for this performance.

reply

I also think it was for her body of work during her career.

reply

Her body of work?? She is a terrible "actress"

reply

But she had a great body

reply

INCORRECT.

reply

Which is why the Oscars are meaningless.

reply

Yeah, that really seems the case with this one.

reply

She got swept up with the tide. I have no problem with her winning. And I absolutely disagree that she was "one note" in this. She was literally several different characters!

If Angela Bassett had won, all the racists would be screaming about "wokeness". People will always find something to complain about.

reply

Bassett? The best was, by far, Condon.

reply

Condon was great, also. I loved her in Better Call Saul, too. But Bassett is the one in hearing the most complaints about.

I should say that I loved Jessie Buckley in Woman Talking.

Maybe I like Irish women...

reply

Actually she wasn’t a one-note villain. She (at least the one in the main universe) ended up being a decent person.

I think the standout in the whole movie was Stephanie Hsu as the daughter. Jamie L wasn't bad but she didn't get a whole lot of screentime in this movie. Hsu's character was a central figure in this film. And when JLC did get some screentime, she was often doing some kung-fu stuff which was just special effects. Lol

Not exactly what you'd expect from an actress at that age. Hsu was doing some pretty serious acting during the effects and makeup scenes and was quite convincing at it.
