Ridiculously disappointing

Overexaggerating a little bit, but wow.

Was hyped as this profoundly intellectual, cultural milestone of a movie, as an almost once-in-a-generation kind of a thing, when it's really just a super basic, even subpar, exploration of multiverse theory wrapped around a subtly, but still solidly, progressive, wannabe parable about adolescent angst and acceptance.

And it's not even internally coherent lmao.

Perfect description of this debacle!! Couldn't have said it anything better.

What happens with every buzzed-about and overall acclaimed film. *gasps* With that said, everyone (well almost everyone) is feeling the disappointment/completely dislike. That is, everyone in these hate boards. Thankfully, the world isn’t MovieChan! Lmao

Hype? Oh yeah… and many unkewl ones bought into it! Congrats for all your well-earned success, you ridiculously pleasing and spectacular mind-trip EEAAO!

I mean, until the critics were almost totally captured by our current little social cult, I actually agreed with them more often than not.

This movie is weird in that it garnered a lot of really positive word of mouth combined with a decent critical reception and good production from a well-respected niche distributor, but objectively just isn't anything like what it was made out to be. It was supposed to be like this weird marriage of social and critical acclaim with banging entertainment value and intellectual stimulation, but was instead more like a movie for twentysomethings who want to have their beliefs affirmed while feeling hip.

I agree with you 110%

Boring people find anything original and just plain fun boring. It's one of the mysteries of life how that happens.

Not sure exactly what you mean to say here, but in any event didn't find it boring, just self-important and overhyped. Kind of diverting though.

Everyone isn't the same. People have different opinions. I hated Forrest Gump, but most people loved it. That's how things are. I honestly didn't know what to expect from this movie, but what I got I found fun; it wasn't profound, which for me was fine.
