I usually complain that that a movie is too long, but in this case it could have used another 20 minutes or so to fill in some spaces. the first 1/2 hour is really good, but when they start jumping forward it looses some focus. cinematography is nice and the acting appears to be good (hard to truly tell with subtitles).
shareThat's my biggest problem with it as well. There's no sense of cohesion or coherency to it. It just shows you very quick glimpses of their lives, but without any of the proper character development to make it seem convincing. It felt very meaningless and hollow, yet somehow, critics and the Academy went nuts for it. Shooting it in black-and-white and in 4:3 seems to have really done its trick.
i am watching it now.
