That seems to be the directors trademark (long, drawn-out, protracted, languid, over-procedural sequences.....with likewise dialogue)
If you've sat through the directors other two movies, you should be accustomed to such traits by now?
Personally, I like his sombre style. It reminds me of seventies cinema,back when movies were made for adults with attention spans (none of the garbage Tarantino pick-and-mix, greatest hits, blaxploitation homage-frais bullshit, either)
Bone Tomahawk and Brawl in Cell Block 99 are very reminiscent of 70s exploitation cinema.
