Just judging from the first minutes ...
This looks stupid and juvenile. The book hand-off scene
which is the first scene in the first show is so silly I had to
laugh out loud.
But about 5 episodes into the series and looking back, this show
is very well done, and a decent narrative about how 9-11 happened
and why, as well as a retrospective on what went wrong.
Jeff Daniels plays John O'Neil the FBI guy assigned to the bin Laden
case in the US. The role is a complex one, because as right as O'Neil
was, he was twice as annoying and off-putting as well as insubordinate
to his higher ups. While it is hard to blame him, the results of his
antics got him little traction and eventually fired.
The series is not big on action or special effects, and that is one of
the things I don't miss in the least, in fact it is better and more
serious for it.
The episodes have currently worked up to 9-11 itself, and the show does
an interesting thing of showing the 9-11 hearings in character, but then
also showing the actual hearings and the actions people in those hearings.
I have changed my mind totally on this one, and would rate it at 7.5 to
8.0 out of 10.
Seeing Alex Baldwin as George Tenet is a little distracting and for me takes
away from the show. The other actors are very professional.
