I was thinking the same thing. It seems they're also going for some kind of attraction between the main characters. Not sure why they want to turn every crime show into a soap.
Ryan and Esposito were the only thing that kept me watching during those last couple of seasons!
If they'd kept Forever (https://moviechat.org/tt3487382/Forever) going it wouldn't be as bad as it is but with that and Castle being cancelled and this Mentalist copy being put in as a sub-par replacement I don't think I'll be enjoying it the way that I may have.
