What do you think of the enemy Terminator?

The new Terminator antagonist is played by that Mexican dude. I think he looks pretty cool and he's as uncanny as Robert Patrick's T-1000.

reply

I think it's realistic that a Mexican has the T1000 job now.

T-1000 vs I.C.E.

How blatant is that shot of him in a border Patrol uniform. Christ these Hollywood elites just can't keep there politics out of a movie.

reply

Politics are welcome anywhere in a free country.

Good one.

I like the fact he has sense of humor and acts 100% human. His software is even upgraded from T1000

Gabriel Luna is the name — and I’m certain he is going to be awesome in Dark Fate.

Ignoring what the miserable reactionary klan predictably has to say about the not-so-oldskool casting (they took r jerbs -- to hell with the reich!), I’m so glad to see a cool af and talented actor such as Luna in a major role like this. The guy was/is a Ghost Rider (a perfectly kick ass one) and now he is a Terminator? F’n badass. He’s a helluva screen presence.

Overall, Luna does look legit in the role and I look forward to seeing him and the rest of the great cast shine.

Cool and talented actor?

This is him in Ghost Rider.

Hispanics in Hollywood fit two main archetypes: (1) the tough criminal 'Machete' style, and (2) the 'I've suffered so much, and life is such a pain, but I'm so well intentioned'. Every Hispanic cop partner fitted this archetype. Gabriel Luna just fits this archetype.

Nowadays, Hollywood actors are not required to have talent. They're required to fit in some specific racial archetype. As long as they do, they'll have work. Luna does, but that's his only talent. You can compare him with Robert Patrick in Terminator 2. Patrick could make his character completely normal and strangely creepy at the same time.

Now, THAT was talent.

This is Gabriel Luna playing Terminator.

There's nothing scary, or creepy, or special. He's playing the Terminator as some kind of secret agent in disguise. And yeap, well, that works, that's fine, I guess... but it's miles away from what Robert Patrick did.

And Mackenzie Davis doesn't do much better. She goes the opposite side and plays plain creep. Again, one-dimensional acting. None of them can blend creepiness and commonness as Robert Patrick did. But hey, that was before Diversity kicked in, when talent was required.

Kind of meh. They have a problem because anything that's not a T-800 is kind of lame really. Sure, T-1000 was OK but they're trying to keep on improving it and there's only so many times to can tweak it.

On the other hand, if they just repeated the T-800, they would need Arnie to do it justice which is unlikely considering he's getting on a bit.

It looks repetitive, but we'll see what happens.
