Yeah, yeah -- I know James Cameron said it will be R in a recent interview with Flicks and the City. But here's the thing -- Paramount has been going crazy scrubbing the entire internet of that interview, issuing take down notices galore, even though the interview contained zero footage and zero specific plot spoilers.

Very suspicious.

Fox tried to do this to Ridley Scott with Prometheus too, but he fought for his vision and fans REALLY wanted the freedom of an R rating... and Fox eventually relented.

Cameron can fight this too and he will.... and literally, seriously, he could use our help.

R matey! Lol

I heard that the first three Terminator movies were rated thus:
Terminator - 18 (BBFC)
Terminator 2 Judgment Day - 15 (BBFC)
Terminator 3 Rise of the Machines - 12 (BBFC)

So basically, they've been progressively neutered since the start, and this news is not surprising.

But all rating systems are flawed and incoherent between them.

Example: where I live, Wolf of Wall Street is 16+, but in France it's 12+. On another hand, Saw III is 16+ here, but for some reason it's one of the few commercial pictures rated 18+ in France.

Or just take the example of Pulp Fiction: Italy rated it 18+, while most countries have a way lower restriction for it. But somehow, Hostel received 14+ in Italy, which makes them pretty much the only country (or nearly) to rate it under 16+.

It all depends on the culture, how strict the censorship is in the country and every country has its taboos. France is widely known as the least severe rating system.

And you used the Brittish rating system, the MPAA (American) had rated every Terminator movies R as far as I know.

reply

Terminator, Terminator 2 and Terminator 3 are rated R. Terminator Salvation and Terminator Genisys are rated PG-13.

reply

Well... I don't really consider anything after T2 anyways haha so I didn't really care to search. I knew for sure for the first two installements though.

reply

Done.

We shall see (I doubt it).

*already prepared to grab the popcorn*

Okay, so Tim Miller is now confirming it will be R. So, case closed. I'm usually right about these things, but happy to be wrong here.

noooooooooo : (

If James Cameron cannot keep this rated R then he's a bigger hasbeen than I thought possible.
