Best movie of 2019 is this one
So far (november), I haven't seen anything better than this.
It's a very good movie, check it out.

Do you have to watch the show to appreciate it? Never have.
shareI've never watched it before and I loved the movie. I have since watched the whole series, I think I like it less:-)
I enjoyed it more without really knowing their story beforehand, like another Gosford Park.
The series is not as good as the standalone movie, it's still good but too much soap opera in it.
Not a bad movie, better than the later seasons of the TV series.
shareI think Parasite, with its class struggles in Korea, is a more complex and better film overall. That said, Downton Abbey is a great film too and my pick for 2nd best overall. And frankly, it’s a lot more fun and rewatchable than Parasite.
Want a downer? Watch Parasite.
Want a fun film and elegant and beautful film? Watch Downton.
Parasite is vastly overrated. It's an ok, elementary social satire that got waaaaay too much attention for all the wrong reasons. This has affected it negatively for me, it was so hyped that when I watched it I couldn't believe how mediocre it is.
DA instead I had no idea what to expect and I loved it.
Well, frankly I thought Parasite was going to be about some zombie virus apocalypse before I saw it. Honestly! I never bothered to read any summaries about it. Had to do a complete mental reset after I started to watch it. I thought it was decent and understand the acclaim... but I enjoy Downton Abbey a lot more. I’ll likely rewatch DA many times and enjoy it. We need more films like this and less superhero / CGI car films....

Right on the money.
For Parasite, I understand you got pleasantly surprised if you walked in expecting a zombie flick. It is an ok movie, almost good, but if you walk in expecting the best movie of the decade you get underwhelmed. But that too, there should be waaay more movies like that and less superhero/CGI crap. But you know, it's easy to churn out crap like that manufactured on a PC in post, than having to actually think before and during production.
