That's right, that playa snuck into Drago's woman's hotel room and made a baby with her.
Drago found out and that's why he killed him.
But Drago felt guilty, and once the boy was born, even though he's not his biological seed, Drago raised him as his own. And this poignantly mirrors the decision made by Adonis's foster mother, aka Mrs. Apollo Creed.
I honestly can't understand all the hate for Rocky 5. Of course, it had its flaws. But the drama was there and for the first time since Rocky II we felt like the characters were authentic. Rocky III had some potential, even though it was mostly entertainment without any considerable attempt (put aside the death of Mickey) to be what Rocky was in the first place: drama. Rocky IV was just some muscular action fest without any depth.
At least with Rocky 5 I felt like there was a story around it. I even felt some emotion. Some elements were simply ridiculous, indeed. Nevertheless, at least it tried to tell a story instead of simply throwing Rocky in a boxing ring with the strongest possible opponent.
I will never understand the hate around Rocky V, and to this day I feel like Stallone is a bit hypocritical about it.
On a side note, apparently the director's cut is much better. Unfortunately, it will probably never be released on DVD.
I thought Rocky V was awesome. It was definitely a much more well made movie than Rocky III or IV. It became cool to hate on V for some reason. Even Stallone doesn't like it. I've always enjoyed it just as much as the others.
"Yo, you knocked him down, now why don't you try knocking me down now?" When Rocky finally has enough, gets pissed, and says that to Tommy I still get so pumped!
I get just as fired up watching the street fight as I did for any of the other Rocky fights. It was badass, with the exception of Sage Stallone's character's "he took my room" and "go for it" shouting, but overall it was a well put together movie.
I love ALL the Rocky movies, as corny as some of them are, but you CANNOT tell me that the 90min music videos that are Rocky III and Rocky IV are better made films than Rocky V.
I don't care what the trend is, or which movie it's cool to hate.
It's funny, I've heard the EXACT same lines used a million times for why people didn't like Rocky V, and its mainly "Rocky doesn't fight in the ring" or "He never would have lost all his money." That's been regurgitated so many times it's laughable. No professional athlete has ever gone broke, lol.
If you don't like a movie at least come up with your own original reason for not liking it.
No, it's a trend. People like to agree about things, and people like to take someone else's reasonings and pass them off as their own.
It became cool to dislike Rocky V from people who loved the cartoonish style of Rocky III and Rocky IV, because Rocky V went back to a dramatic style of filmmaking, and wasn't a full on action movie with a hour and a half of training montages like III and IV.
Trend or not, NOBODY will ever tell me that III and IV are more well made films than V.
And this comes from someone who loves all the Rocky movies, but III and IV are outlandish, and V was more real.
If people just liked III and IV better, that's fine, but when those films exist, but ROCKY V is considered the biggest insult to the franchise, then that is hysterical.
