Theater attendance/reaction?

I was at the only movie theater in San Francisco that was showing the film. About 70% in one of their largest auditoriums; very solid attendance, considering that it's an experimental indie.

No-one left, and everyone clapped enthusiastically at the end, and most people stayed for the Q&A. People seemed quite pleased with it, even a bit elated. Overall, a lovely experience.

What were your theaters like?

reply

15 people, maybe. Clearly more fan types than casual moviegoers. Scattered laughter.

As soon as it was over I heard a couple people grumbling about it being awful, and some left before the Q&A. I didn't think it was quite that bad.

On a side note I missed the first several minutes because the idiot clerk directed me to the wrong screen. So there I was waiting by myself thinking I was the only person to show up. I may complain about that, honestly I was pretty ticked off.

In the middle of Manhattan, NYC.

Mostly full theater which was quiet the majority of the time. Surprisingly not much talking at all through the movie.

Because of that, you could loudly hear some people yawn occasionally. I don't know if many of the "yawners" left early or not. There was also some laughter here and there, though a group of people in the row in front of me laughed insanely.

Besides that, it was mostly quiet. I'd say 75% silence, 25% laughter. And probably 1/4 of the theater left before the Q&A.

Norfolk, VA - about 20 in attendance, maybe 25.

Occasional chuckles during the film with a couple of laugh-out-loud moments. There was some applause at the end with about 2/3 staying for the Q&A.

I'm FROM Norfolk... what are the odds?! Though the odds of me knowing you are still next to none :P

I'm a native NYC-er who saw it in Norfolk and you're a native of Norfolk (Norfolker doesn't sound right) who saw it in NYC...odd coincidence.

If you ever go to the Naro film form, we might know each other.

reply

Definitely a funny coincidence, even more than before!

Alas, while I know NARO, I never have really gone to that, in my whole time in Norfolk. I didn't frequent downtown Norfolk for most of my time.

(And yeah, I actually can't think of a good term for people from Hampton Roads, haha.)

El Paso, TX here. Theater was about half full. Sounded to me like people were enjoying and laughing a lot. I think only 2 people left after the movie was over but before the Q&A. So pretty much everyone stayed for the Q&A.

Oh it's like slang. From...England
